Open Spaces 6
8x8 inches, oil on panel, unframed
I wanted to create a series of small paintings that felt spacious. I started by laying in color on a number of panels to establish the palette for the series. I then applied many additional layers of paint, mixing color on the surface, pushing back and forth between dark and light, muted color and saturated, editing, contemplating, adjusting -until each painting felt complete and distinct. Simplified compositions with nuanced color -an invitation to step inside.
